Frequently asked questions.

  • Our mind is the most powerful transformational tool we have. RTT considers the mind as having two dimensions: the Conscious and Subconscious. Our conscious mind is our thinking mind, that analyzes the world around us. Our subconscious mind is like our autopilot. It keeps our body functioning without us needing to think about it, and it includes a record and imprint of every experience we’ve ever had. These experiences help us to create beliefs about the world around us and our place within it. These beliefs influence our thoughts, behaviors and actions throughout our lives. But sometimes the meaning we attach to certain events in our past create beliefs that don’t serve us. And this can lead to thoughts, behaviors and actions that keep us stuck in patterns or limit us. Hypnotherapy quiets our thinking mind so our subconscious mind, where all these beliefs are stored, becomes available to us and allows us to uncover the root of the limiting beliefs that are holding us back from living our best lives. Once we understand why we formed the belief in the first place, we can make changes in hypnosis, replacing those old beliefs with new ones that support our best life.

  • RTT uses hypnotherapy combined with elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, neurolinguistic programming (NLP) and psychology to get to the root of the issue quickly. It is based on the 30+ years of experience of Marisa Peer, psychologist and teacher. Her work with thousands of people revealed that this combination of therapies had the most impactful and rapid results for patients no matter what issue they were struggling with.  Imagine your subconscious mind is like a garden filled with everything you have experienced in your life, as well as the meanings and beliefs you have attached to those experiences. There are many beautiful flowers and plants, but growing within and around them are some weeds, like limiting beliefs, that are keeping us from having the garden we dream of. RTT allows us to highlight where the weeds are and pull them out by the roots. In their place we can plant new ideas and beliefs that align with who we truly are and the life we are trying to achieve.

  • Being under hypnosis is just like being in a deeply relaxed state, much like deep meditation or the feeling just before you fall asleep at night. But hypnotherapy is not about being asleep, it’s just a quieting of the nervous system and the thinking or conscious mind so that your subconscious mind is more accessible. You are still in control of your mind and your actions and the choices you make.

  • An RTT session is typically between 90-120 minutes in length and takes place over zoom or in person at the wellness studio. You are either seated or lying on a therapy table. We begin by talking a little bit about your goals for the session and then go into a hypnosis induction using imagery and breath. Once your subconscious mind is awakened in hypnosis we dialogue with it to get to the root of the issues you want to address. Sometimes this brings us to experiences from our childhood or throughout our lives where we formed a link to a belief about the issue. It is these scenes that provide the understanding of why this issue exists so we can begin to make changes.

  • Not all our limiting beliefs about the world and our place in it arise from a trauma or traumatic event. That being said, painful experiences from our past can arise during an RTT session. If a painful or disturbing scene arises during an RTT session we don’t relive it - we briefly review it as though watching it on a screen so we can understand the meanings and beliefs it created in our subconscious minds. Then we move on. RTT does not require rehashing the difficulties of our past, but it asks them instead to briefly show us how those experiences might still be informing our view of the world today.

  • Change from your hypnotherapy sessions can happen a few different ways. Some changes can be felt immediately as you gain a deep understanding of where your subconscious mind has been guiding you in ways that don’t serve you. Some changes will occur over the weeks following the session as you listen to your recording and cement the new beliefs in your subconscious mind. And other changes may be latent where you don’t notice much of a difference but people around you notice the ways you are changing and bring it to your attention. One or all three of these types of changes can be expected following your RTT session(s).

  • RTT is an appropriate healing tool for anyone who has emotional or physical pain but doesn’t know how or why, or how to remedy it. This can include depression, anxiety, anger, disruptive behaviors or habits like smoking, binge eating, hair pulling, addictions and some physical conditions like IBS and immune dysfunction. RTT is not a cure for a diagnosed physical/medical condition, but can have a positive effect on the symptoms of that condition. RTT is not appropriate for deep mental health issues such as schizophrenia or multiple personality disorders.

  • RTT is equally effective whether your session is in-person or virtual. All that is necessary for a virtual session is a reliable internet connection and space where you won’t be disturbed during your session.
